Course objectives
The course offers an overview of the historical development of script, writing material and means from ancient to present times. The student will learn to read text written in scripts which were common in the Czech lands - Caroline minuscule, diplomatic minuscule, Gothic script, humanistic script and also current script. The students also learn the system of abbreviations which made simpler writing but make more difficult reading and understanding of the text.
