Course objectives
The course provides an analysis of the political, economical and cultural developments in Czechoslovakia in 1945–1970. Its objective is to clarify the differences between the political and economic systems of the state in 1918–1938, 1945–1948 and during the totalitarian regime of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.
The course shall provide to students basic knowledge of the literature dealing with the theme; get them oriented in the historical period, quite long and full of events, become familiar with its chronology and periodization, and teach them how to work with bibliographies relating to the period. In elaborating the final essay, they shall show the ability to catch and formulate fundamental issues of the subject.
