Course objectives
Traditional folk culture and education The subject matter is related to acute questions formulated by UNESCO in Recommendation on the Safeguarding of Traditional Culture and Folklore, specified by the Czech government in The Conception of more effective care about the traditional folk culture. The subject aims the student at the traditional folk culture as a part of national cultural heritage. Folklore, especially its regional particularity is a starting point of the education to national cultural traditions and understanding of the cultures of other nations and ethnics. It makes acquainted with the historical alternations of the conception of this subject matter applied to school and out-of- school education based on the examples taken from the school curricula and from the activities of folk ensembles. In conclusion, the possibilities of the practical utilizations not only for the patriotic education, but also for education for the toleration for other cultures.
