Course objectives
They can understand the main ideas of relatively complex text on both concrete and academic/professional topics, including discussions in their field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of academic/professional subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
Syllabus
  • The papers of German and Austrian authors, concerning the problems of social and political history. German texts from the contemporary historical journals published in the german-speaking countries. German texts from the former (already not existing) historical journals published in the Bohemian lands.

Credit course completed by an exam.
Assessment methods
Credit course completed by an exam. The exam has two parts – written (gram. test) and oral (presentation + discussion on academic/professional topic). Stress is put on the comprehension of an academic/professional text and a simple but thorough interpretation of that text.
