Course objectives
The aim of the course is to use the acquired knowledge of the Classical Greek normative grammar while reading the Ancient Greek text (Herodotus, Thukydides) which is prescribed to translation. At the end of this course, students will be able to make a grammatical analysis, a translation and an interpretation of the Greek historiography on a high level.
Syllabus
  • Solving problematic places in Herodot's Historiae, Book I, VII, or in Thucydides's Historiae, Book I, II (the students choose one of these authors on the basis of their individual interests).
