Course objectives
The course provides enhanced insight into language issues and deepens the students'skills in written presentation. The aim of the course is to raise the awareness of the requirements, which specify various language institutions, create linguistic tools and provide an overview of the literature dealing with various aspects of linguistic communication. Emphasis is placed on various exercises, both oral and written presentations, including writing reports, papers, argumentation, popularization of scientific texts etc.. The course also emphasizes the importance of linguistic changes with a view to achieving greater clarity, simplicity and clarity.
Syllabus
  • Literary language and linguistic culture in Sweden; Language control and institutions, mainly Språkrådet (Language Board) Basic features of oral and written communication in a variety of contexts The link between the organization of society, the social situation of individuals and of linguistic communication The influence of social development of the language situation and language policy in the country, practical and social consequences of various types of communication problems Current language-policy initiatives and decisions in Sweden Oral and written presentations on linguistic, literary and social topics
