Course objectives
Lecture includes determination of common central European freshwater algae. Ecology of freshwater algae from lakes, ponds, rivers and another biotops important for protection. Each theme includes as theory of sampling methods as interpretation of algological data.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction, literature. 2. Characteristics and classification of the main water biotops. 3. Ecology and features of the important members of algae and cyanobacteria in these biotops. 4. Sampling methods and data acquisition in the different biotops 5. Determination and taxonomic methods. 6. Cultivation Methods 7. Data evaluation and interpretation methods 8. Lakes, ponds, reservoirs and pools. 9. Running waters. 10. Ocean and sea biotops 11. Wetlands 12. Soil and aerophytic algae 13. Special biotops (phycobionts, zoobionts, parasite algae atc.) 14. Extreme biotops
