Course objectives
Dual concept in the evaluation of biodivrsity. Functional, genetic, structural and taxonomic biodiversity.
Biodiversity in data, biodiversity in scientific graphs.
Biodiversity indices. Species richness, heterogeneity of abundance distribution within different biological communities.
Evenness. Confidence limits for various diversity measures, approximation of min/max values.
Rarefaction. Numerical realization of rarefaction curves and associated variability. Cumulative species-abundance curves, Q-statistics.
Species abundance stochastic models: types, evaluation, fitting, graphical patterns.
Niche-oriented species abundance modelling. Computer assissted simulation in the evaluation of biodiversity.
Bootstrap and jackknife techniques. Parametric and non-parametric evaluation of biodiversity comparison. Biodiversity data in multivariate analyses.
Fractionation of biological communities and biodiversity analyses of the segments.
Markov chains in the evaluation of time-related biodiversity data. Case studies.
