Course objectives
Practical (terrain) excursion of lotic and lentic ecosytems. Characterization and level of antropogenic effects. Sampling, testing protocols. Model project - new chemical compound in environment - testing protocols, evaluation and environmental risk analysis.
Syllabus
  • 1. Practical (terrain) excursion to lotic and lentic ecosytems with various level of antropogenic effects.2. Characterization of surrounding and aquatic environment, mapping, protocols, estimation of human effects. 3. Sampling (water, sediments), transport and storage, suggestion of testing scheme (onespecies tests, multispecies tests, mesocosms). 4. Porotocols for locality caracterization, sampling and testing. 5. Model project: new chemical compound introduced into the environment. 6. Chemical and toxicological characterization (informational sources, databases), testing of fate in enviroment. 7. Laboratory and field testing of effects and toxicity, schemes and suggestions for environmental risk analysis.
