Course objectives
Introduction to terrestrial ecotoxicology.
Basic ecological principles. Ecosystem as model system. taxonomy and description of ecosystems.
Methodology of ecotoxicological research. Contaminants in ecosystems.
Entrance and behaviour of polutants in ecosystems. Fate and output from ecosystem. Fotolysis. Biodegradation. Transport mechanisms.
Ecosystem under influence of polutants. Influence on ecosystem structure and energetical balance. Influence on matter cycling (C, N).
Influence of contaminants on ecosystem regulation and evolution.
Practical aspects of risk analysis in terrestrial ecosystems.
Diagnosis, ecological risk assessment, bioindication.
Prospective risk analysis, influence of compounds with chronic effects.
Therapy,decontamination, technological aspects.
