The basic knowledge of plasma physics, probability theory and statistics is assumed.

Course objectives
At the end of this course, students obtain the basic knowledge of Monte Carlo method and its use for the simulations in plasma physics.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to Monte Carlo method. Generators of uniform random numbers. Transformation of random numbers. Generation of special types of random numbers. Computation of integrals by Monte Carlo method. Simulation of transport phenomena in gases and plasmas. "Particle in Cell" method.
