Course objectives
Advanced practical course from the field of technology, processing, and identification of metals.
Syllabus
  • 1. Materiological examination of metals (X-ray methods,gamagraphy, supersound, etc.).
  • 2. Study of corrosion products (X-ray diffraction, polarizing microscopy).
  • 3. Structure study of historical metalic materials (metallography, microhardness and macrohardness proofs)
  • 4. Structure study of historical metalic materials (electron microscopy).
  • 5. Determination of corrosion velocity.
  • 6. Electrochemical investigation of corrosion.
  • 7. Glass silvering.
  • 8. Preparation of the niello mixture; preparation of liver of sulfur patinating.
  • 9. Phase equilibria of multiphase systems.
  • 10. Chemico-thermic material treastment.
  • 11. Metal casting technology, fabrication of simple casting form from sandstone or clay (foundry in Technical Museum Brno)
