Course objectives
The aim of the lecture "Mechanical Properties of Solids" is a introduction to basic problems of material physics and basic technological processes of material engineering. Part of the lecture is focused on perspective materials. The lecture is destined either for students of physics, or for students of other branches.

  • Mechanical Properties of Solids: 1. Structure of Solids 2. Interatomic Forces 3. Crystal Defects 4. Mechanical Properties of Metals 5. Equilibrium Diagrams 6. Diffusion in Solids 7. Plastics Materials 8. Glasses and Ceramics 9. Composite Materials and Carbon 10.Perspective Materials.

Assessment methods
Colloquium. After randomly chosen two questions student prepare written answers. They will be then discussed together with teacher and the colloquium is awarded or not. Repeating is possible according to academic study rules.
