The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to provide the students with the ability to
- list basic techniques of optical microscopy, imaging and explain the physical principles of these techniques
- apply the correct technique for a particular sample and examine this choice in terms of the obtained image contrast,
all for the micro structured samples in biology, medicine, mineralogy, metallurgy, material sciences etc.

Teaching methods
Integral part of this course is the excersize during which the topics from the lectures are worked through. The content of the excersize is formed by examples of the basic ray construction for the selected imaging aparatuses and/or methods.
Assessment methods
For successful completition of the course, passing the final written test is necessary. Unless stated otherwise, 80% attendance at the exercises is mandatory.
