Course objectives
The aim of the course is to repeat curriculum for state exams of didactic of chemistry.
Learning outcomes
Student has knowledge of all basic chemical disciplines and is able to summarize their connections; is able to evaluate content of particular chapters in teaching at high school.
Syllabus
  • 1. Atomic structure and periodic system of elements
  • 2. Chemical bond, coordination chemistry
  • 3. Chemical thermodynamics
  • 4. Chemical kinetics
  • 5. Properties of liquids and intermolecular forces. Properties of gases.
  • 6. Electrolysis. Oxidation and reduction.
  • 7. Acid-base theories, pH. Hydrolysis of salts. Titration.
  • 8. Nomenclature of organic compounds. Alkanes, alkenes, alkynes.
  • 9. Aromaticity, aromatic compounds. Halogen derivatives, organometallic compounds, alcohols and phenols, ethers.
  • 10. Aldehydes and ketones. Carboxylic acids and their derivatives.
  • 11. Nitrogen Compounds, heterocyclic compounds. NMR.
  • 12. Optical activity. Saccharides, lipids, peptides and proteins.
  • 13. Enzymes, vitamins. Catabolism of saccharides. Krebs cycle, respiratory chain.
  • 14. Beta-oxidation, photosynthesis, ornithine cycle, pentose cycle, nucleic acids.

Teaching methods
The course is conceived as lectures combined with discussions. Curriculum for state exams of didactics of chemistry is repeated.
