Course objectives
After completing this course the student will be able to:
understand authentic texts/lectures on Earth Science
identify the main ideas
formulate the main ideas
summarize a simple scientific/geologic text
interpret the information from the text/lecture
identify causes and effects
use terminology of the course topics;
define the terms of the course topics;
classify minerals and rocks
describe scientific methods, minerals, rocks, processes/cycles, sources of energy
compare and contrast using the proper terminology and academic vocabulary
discuss general and scientific topics
apply acquired skills in academic English to new topics

The first two sessions will take place face-to-face as given in the timetable. Then the majority of classes will be taught online, hopefully with some more contact classes throughout the semester. Regular updates to be found in the interactive syllabus of the course.
