Course objectives
Crystal lattice dynamics. Phonons. Interaction with electromagnetic field Anharmonicity and phonon-phonon interaction. Electron-phonon interaction. Bloch's formulation.Fröhlich hamiltonian. Polarons. Attractive electron-electron interaction. Electron liquid. The Sommerfeld gas with the electrostatic electron-electron interaction. Interaction hamiltonian in second-quantized form.
