Course objectives
Important biochemical laboratory methods for biochemical analysis and diagnostics. Spectrophotometry, fluorometry, chromatography, electrophoresis.
Syllabus
  • Theoretical backgrounds. Principles, instrumentation and use of most important separation and other methods in biochemistry. Principles of work with biochemical material. Theory of chromatography and electromigration methods. Basic spectral methods. Practical training in absorption spectra measurement, photometric estimation of enzyme activities. Flurescent behaviour of typical fluorochromes, influence of environment. Protein separation using high performance liquid chromatography. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of proteins.
