Course objectives
This course of lectures will be devoted to the systematic exposition of the theory of teaching mathematics on the high-school level. In the introductory part, some questions of general nature will be considered, e.g. the importance of math education, specific features of teaching math and its basic principles. In the main part of the course, the standard topics of the high-school math curriculum in the Czech Republic will be discussed from the didactical point of view. The theoretical explanations will be atttached by solving many sample problems and exercises. Additional forms of teaching gifted pupils will be considered too.
Syllabus
