Basic knowledge of General Relativity and Quantum Field Theory.

Course objectives
The course is an elementary introduction to String Theory.
Syllabus
  • The Nambu-Goto action and its descendants. The classical motion of strings. Mode expansion. Light-cone quantization. Covariant quantization. D-branes. T-duality. Path integral quantization. Interactions. Strings in background fields. Supersymmetry. Superstrings.
