Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain ionic equilibria, electrochemical cells, chemical kinetics, phase equilibria, UV-VIS spectroscopy, pH and conductivity measurements, refractometry and molecular weight determination.
Syllabus
  • Exercise list:
  • Determination of molar weight of naphthalene;
  • Ethanol- water phase diagram assessment;
  • Liquid - liquid phase diagram assessment;
  • Extraction equilibrium in system methylene blue – water – amylalcohol;
  • Viscosities of solutions of polymers;
  • Potentiometry measurement of acid constant;
  • Concentration dependence of molar conductivity of weak and hard electrolytes;
  • Dissociation constant determination of acid-base indicator;
  • Thermodynamics of Galvanic cell;
  • Tenside surfactants detergents;
  • Determination of ion transport number;
  • Photometric study of reaction kinetics;
  • Refraction and permittivity of liquids;
  • Activity coefficient determination of HCl;
  • Temperature dependency of oxygen concentration in water
