Measure of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine No. 8/2017
to the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk
University and the preparation of final theses in a foreign
language
Pursuant to Section 28(1) of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and
Supplements to Other Acts (the Higher Education Act), as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Higher
Education Act"), I issue the following measure.
Part One
Art. I.
Introductory provisions
(1) The Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk University, as amended on 1 September 2017,
regulate the rules of study in study programmes accredited by Masaryk University and implemented by
its faculties.
(2) This measure is issued by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University (hereinafter referred
to as LF MU) in order to implement the provisions of the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk
University.
(3) The provisions of this measure follow in particular the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk
University and the Higher Education Act.
(4) In the application of this measure, there shall be no discrimination or exclusion, in particular on grounds
of sex, age, race, language, origin, nationality, religion or belief.
Art. li.
Interpretative provisions
(1) For the purposes of this measure, the final thesis means the bachelor's thesis, diploma thesis and rigorous
thesis submitted to the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University.
(2) For the purposes of this measure, a thesis supervisor is defined as the supervisor of a bachelor's or
master's thesis submitted to the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University and the supervisor (within the
meaning of Article 28 of the MU Regulations) of a student studying at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk
University in a doctoral study programme.
Part Two
Art. Ill.
Final thesis in a foreign language
(1) Final theses may be submitted in English in addition to Czech and Slovak, depending on their focus and
the student's interest.
(2) The possibility of submitting the thesis in English is subject to the written approval of the thesis
supervisor.
(3) If the thesis is written in a language other than Czech or Slovak, the title page will be prepared in
duplicate - first in Czech and then in the respective foreign language.

Part Three
Final Provisions
Article IV.
Validity and
effectiveness
(1) The interpretation of the individual provisions of this measure and the updating of this measure is
entrusted to the Study Department of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University.
(2) Control of compliance with this measure is carried out by the vice-dean for teaching in clinical disciplines,
the vice-dean for teaching in preclinical disciplines, the vice-dean for dentistry and the vice-dean for nonmedical
disciplines.
(3) THE MEASURE OF THE DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE NO.6/2017 IS REPEALED WITH THE EFFECT OF
THIS MEASURE.
(4) This measure shall enter into force on the date of signature.
(S) This measure shall enter into force on 16.10.2017
