Course objectives
The course gives an introduction to health care ethics. The aim of the course is: to introduce to health care ethics; to give information about ethical dilemmas in current medicine and health care; to learn how to prevent problems by observing professional ethical standards.
Learning outcomes
After completing the subject, the student will be able: - to identify ethical aspects of health care - to analyze ethical dilemmas in health care - to apply the ethical normative tools

  • • Introduction to ethics • Patient-physician relationship, patient-nurse relationship • Patient rights - obligations of health care providers • Informed consent • Truth in health care • Personal data protection in health care • Health care information and privacy protection • Transplantation ethics • Ethics in assisted reproduction • Prenatal and preimplantation diagnosis, genetic screening • Ethical issues in intensive care • End of life decisions • Ethics of biomedical research
