Course objectives
Brief annotation: Basic knowledge of caring for woman and child during physiological childbirth, caring for newborn after the childbirth and for infant, caring for woman during physiological childbed is introduced with this subject. Management of non-pharmacological and pharmacological managing pain methods, as well as including possibility of water birth is introduced. Home childbirth – out patient birth and help during birth outside the hospital are covered too. The subject covers the topic of primary and secondary prevention. Learning outcomes: After these lessons students will be able to: - to apply knowledge and skills in primary and secondary field of caring for woman, newborn and baby (in practise); - to lead a childbirth under a supervision (all the stages), - to offer non-pharmacological methods of pain managing; - to examine and take care of a newborn; - to take care of woman during childbed, to support breastfeeding, to educate; - to assist during newborn examination, - to provide holistic care for a woman and a newborn;

  • Module subject: - First stage, amniotomy, midwife’s activities during childbirth; - 2nd stage, mechanisms of physiological childbirth during cephalic presentation, midwife’s activities; - 3rd stage – midwife’s activities, - Physiological newborn – after labour adaptation, newborn monitoring a assesment, first care-giving, first breastfeeding, bonding, mikrobiom; - Pain management during childbirth, Simkin’s strategy of childbirth leading; - home childbirth, risks, out-patient childbirth; - Physiological childbed – midwife’s activities, management of home childbed; - Breast feeding, support, techniques- midwife’s activities;
