Course objectives
Professional Nursing Practice II is a practical subject that builds on previous professional nursing practice and integrates knowledge of nursing theory and practice, basic scientific disciplines, natural, social and behavioral sciences and provides the acquisition, consolidation and deepening of nursing knowledge and skills in surgery. The course takes the form of direct and indirect patient care, in accordance with the applicable legislation, and enables students to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired by studying theoretical-practical disciplines in the conditions of a health care provider. The content of the course is the practical activity of students in the form of block clinical internships within the inpatient and outpatient surgical workplaces. The aim of the internships is the ability to apply the nursing process to patients with surgical disease and to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of surgery, including specific nursing habits. The practice takes the form of block teaching under the guidance of teachers or mentors, it can also take place in continuous operation, in inpatient and outpatient departments. It is realized in university hospitals in Brno or with contractual providers of health services (with a framework contract for the practice of students of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University). The completed internships, activities, performances and other activities within the nursing practice are recorded in the Logbook of Nursing Practice (Logbook).
