Course objectives
Teaching the subject allows the student to practice the knowledge and skills of the education process in health care in the form of model situations, and further by developing an educational plan for the patient or family member. The aim of the course is for the student to understand the pedagogical phenomena and processes in nursing practice. To look at the issue of education in health care in the context of interdisciplinary use of knowledge from education, nursing, medicine, psychology, sociology, etc.. Acquired knowledge and skills to use in nursing practice and then in the performance of the profession..Objective of the course - aims of the course unit: - to identify the role of educator; - identify the needs of educators in the educational process; - describe factors influencing the process of education in health care, - realize education within the framework of provided nursing care. The student creates an education plan focused on selected issues (for the patient / client, family members) in connection with nursing and provision of nursing care. The education plan is then presented in the classroom.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to: - be in the role of educator, - identify the needs of the educators (in the state of health / illness) with regard to the health condition of the educator, specific peculiarities, age and factors influencing the educational process, - identify barriers in the educational process, - apply didactic principles in clinical practice, - to formulate a nursing diagnosis in the educational process, - set educational objectives, - draw up an education plan, - implement and evaluate the educational process, - keep records of education in nursing, medical records, - orientate in related literature (e.g. pedagogy, psychology etc.)
Syllabus
  • Presentation of an educational plan developed focused on a selected issue (patient / client education, family members) in connection with nursing and nursing provision. Discussion of presented education plans.

Credit is awarded on the basis of: - 100% participation in seminars, - Development of educational plan for a selected group of educators, - Creation of educational materials, - Presentation of educational plan, - Submission of the educational plan as a seminar work and its publication in the MU Information System.
