- Course objectives
- In the part of radiology, the student should know general principles of individual imaging methods, their basic use in medicine, advantages and disadvantages of individual modalities, indications and contraindications. General knowledge of the use of radiological interventional methods in medicine. Part of the course is also familiarization with procedures of basic radiological examinations, including interventional. In the part of nuclear medicine, education is conceived as an introduction to the study of this field and basic use of individual methods in clinical practice. The course also includes an introduction to the basic principles of radiation protection.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of this course, the student will: - know the position of radiology in today's medicine - know the basic principles of individual modalities used in radiology and nuclear medicine, basic indications and contraindications of these methods - know the problems of used contrast agents - contraindications, adverse effects after administration of contrast agents - be able to practically use basic principles of protection when working with ionizing radiation sources - have an idea of the use of radiological interventional methods in medicine - have an idea of the nurse's work at the department of radiology and nuclear medicine
- Syllabus
- Basic principles of protection against sources of ionizing radiation - radiation hygiene, risks and radiation protection; • Classification of radiological methods, basic principles, utilization, indications and contraindications. Contrast media, routes of administration, adverse reactions; • The role of a nurse in individual radiological examinations, cooperation in examination and organization of appointments with patients - preparing patients for examination, contrast agents, patient monitoring; • Nurse's role in the nuclear medicine department, specifics; • DSA, radiological interventions - basic use in medicine, nurse's role in interventions, monitoring of patient's condition during and after interventions; • Use of imaging methods in pediatric patients, specification of nurse‘s work;
