Course objectives
The subject nursing in internal medicine offers the students the basic overview of most frequent internal diseases, which are probable to appear, basic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, emergent siatuations are stressed.
Syllabus
  • 1. Diaseases of kidney I. Examination methods in nephrology, glomerulonefritis, glomerulopathy, nefrotic syndrome, diabetic glomerulosclerosis.
  • 2. Diseases of kidney II. Interstitial nefritis, pyelonephritis, urinary tract infections, tuberculosis of kidney, urolithiasis, vascular nephrosclerosis, polycystic kidney, renal failure.
  • 3. Metabolic disturbances I. Nutritional pathologie - obesity, undernutrition, changes in vitamin metabolism, inherited metabolic diseases.
  • 4. Metabolic disturbances II. Hyperlipoproteinemias, porfyrias, metal-metabolic diseases, metabolic bone diseases, amyloidosis.
  • 5. Diseases caused by water-, mineral- and acidobasic disturbances. Basics of parenteral nutrition, enteral nutrition.
  • 6. Diabetes mellitus. Classification, signs, acute and chronic complication, therapy, diet, life style.
  • 7. Endocrine glands diseases I. Hormons, regulations, dysfunctions, hypotalamohypophysal system diabetes insipidus, tumors of hypophysis.
  • 8. Endorine flanda diseases II. Thyroid gland, anatomy, phasiology. Hypothyreosis, hyperthyreosis, tyroiditis, thyroid flanda tumors. Calciotropic hormons. Parathyroid glands. Suprarenal glands.
  • 9. Urgent situations in internal medicine. Reasons for admission to ICU. Cardiopulmonary reanimation, most frequent mistakes.
  • 10. Vigilance disturbances – coma. Acute and chronic intoxications, addiction.
  • 11. Damage from physical sources. Hyperthermia, hypothermia, electricity injuries, drown, radioactivity damage. Basics of clinical pharmacology.
  • 12. Clinical oncology: etiopatogenesis, diagnostics, therapy, complication solution. Introduction to gerontology.
  • 13. Differential diagnostics of unconsciousness, dyspnea, chest pain, abdominal pain, back pain, headache, artrhralgias.
