Course objectives
The lectures of infectious diseases have the lofty goals: to provide standards of care for the management of infectious diseases with particular emphasis on antimicrobial agents, non bacterial infections, specific types of infections - immunocompromised host, HIV/AIDS, other emerging infections and opportunistic infections in immunocompromised hosts, rapid advances in antibiotic and antiviral therapy in infectious diseases, new vaccines and new recommendations for management.
Syllabus
  • - History, basic principles in the diagnosis and management and approaches of infectious diseases, new infectious diseases, emerging infections - Principles of antibitic use, indication for ATB dosage/duration of therapy, antiviral agents, introduction to antiviral therapy, immunization, viral hepatitis - Central nervous system infection, acute meningitis, bacterial, viral, cerebrospinal fluid, aids in diff. diagnosis - Tick- borne encephalitis, Lyme disease, borreliosis, neurological complications - Infection of the upper respiratory tract including the common cold, influenza, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, croup, epiglottitis, laryngitis, scarlet fever, lower respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, cystis fibrosis, infectious mononucleosis and mononucleosis-like syndrome - Skin and soft tissue infections, herpes simplex, herpes zoster, impetigo, absces, tetanus, pediatric infectious diseases, infectious diseases with rash - Immunocompromised host, HIV/AIDS, treatment and prvention of AIDS, zoonoses, toxoplasmosis, listeriosis, tetanus, rabies and prophylaxis - Gastrointestinal infections, travel s diarrhea, protection of travels, sexually transmitted diseases, malaria....
