Course objectives
Subject Gerontology I offers students the basic overview containing general problems fo gerontology and geriatrics, diferences of care for elderly patient and intedisciplinary diseases of elderly patients.
Syllabus
  • 1. General introduction - definition of gerontology, geriatrics, theories of ageing, ageing..
  • 2. Somatic manifestation of ageing, psychical manifestation of ageing, adaptability.
  • 3. Functional geriatric assessment.
  • 4. Specific features of diseases in elderly.
  • 5. Giant geriatric syndromes - introduction, instabilita and falls, injuries in elderly.
  • 6. Cognitive impairment.
  • 7. Immobilization.
  • 8. Incontinentia and its complex solution. Urogenital system in elderly.
  • 9. Skin integrity disturbancies - sore ulcers.
  • 10. Delirium and other behavioral disturbances in elderly.
  • 11. Depression and further psychical diseases in elderly, suicidia..
