Course objectives
Subject Gerontology II makes students known with specific diseases of different organ systems in elderly, with most frequent metabolic disturbances of elderly patients, with geriatric maladaptation syndrome and elderly abuse syndrome.
Syllabus
  • 1. Sleep disturbances in elderly1.
  • 2. Nutrition in elderly, metabolic disorders in eldrly
  • 3. Thermoregulation problems in elderly, geriatric maladaptation syndrome, elderly abuse syndrome
  • 4. Endothelium in aged persons, thromboembolic disease, haematologic changes in elderly
  • 5. Cardiovascular system in aged patients
  • 6. Respiratory system in elderly patients
  • 7. Digestive system in aged patients
  • 8. Locomotion system in elderly
  • 9. Endocrine system in elderly, diabetes mellitus and old patient
  • 10. Immune system in elderly, infective complications of aged patients. Sensorical disturbances
  • 11. Elderly patient in perioperative period, geriatric rehabilitaion
