Course objectives
Prepare a general nurse for: performing basic diagnostic and therapeutic in intensive care and for the provision of highly specialized nursing care in dialysis patients and the provision of basic and extended support for life in patients over 10 years of age experiencing basic life impairment, or where this failure is imminent. The student will be involved in the care of patients in the course of their practice in accordance with Decree No. 55/2011 Coll. (as subsequently amended) in the field of General Nursing with a specialized competence - Sister for intensive care.
Learning outcomes
Students will: · Control basic diagnostic and therapeutic performances in intensive medicine, · Know the basics of blood purification methods, to know the concept of intensive medicine, the direction of its development, · Focused on the equipment of intensive medicine centers and to know them use, · Oriented in the legal and social issues of intensive medicine, · To know the ethical aspects of intensive care, · Know the specifics of oxygen therapy in intensive medicine, · Know the differences in basic support of life, taking into account the age categories, · Know how to diagnose and monitor individual organ systems in intensive medicine, · Know basic complementary examinations used in intensive care and be able to to judge them. Students acquire skills: · Control basic diagnostic and therapeutic performances in intensive medicine, • caring for the patient before, during and after diagnostic and therapeutic exercises, · Caring for the patient in performing blood purification methods, · Apply hygienic and antiepidemic mode of work, · Being able to provide basic life support (BLS) · Apply the concept of stimulating perception in working practices, Students participate: · To provide extended life support (ALS) by using the tools available at intensive medicine centers, · To provide highly specialized nursing care to patients after cardiopulmonary resuscitation, · For the application of specific oxygen therapy in intensive medicine.
Syllabus
  • The work is done in dialysis and accredited anesthesiology-resuscitation workplaces (bedside). Students acquire skills: • Manipulation with linear dispenser, infusion pump, enteral pump, ventilator (stable, portable), heater, monitor, pulse oximeter, blood analyzer and other devices 5x • Dust extraction with closed suction system 5x • Dust extraction via open suction system 5x • Changing the position of the endotracheal cannula 5x • Monitoring and analysis of ventilation parameters 5x • Blood collection for blood gases and acid-base balance in conjunction with UPV and analysis of results 5x • Evaluation of patient condition when disconnecting from the fan 3x • The correct procedure for disconnecting the patient from the fan 3x • Complex highly specialized nursing care for a patient with consciousness disorder5x • Preparing the patient for tracheostomy 2x • Preparing the patient for bronchoscopy 2x • Patient care with intracranial sensor 3x • Implementing the concept of pacing perception 3x • Preparation of the device for blood purification methods 3x • Patient connection to the extracorporeal circulation of blood purification methods 3x • Termination of extracorporeal circulation of blood purification methods 3x • Patient care for blood purification methods 3x
