Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to provide the students with a chance to practice their skills in nutrition counselling with a real client (a student of Masaryk University), to make the students able to keep the patient's record properly and with the duties connected to maintaining a private health care facility.
Learning outcomes
The student will be able to:
- identify the essential components of the patient's records according to the legislation;
- use the information system to register their patients and to create a record about the health care services provided;
- identify his/her weaknesses and strengths in one-to-one nutrition counselling;
- use the educative leaflets for the patient's eduaction.
Syllabus
  • During the introduction, these topics will be taught:
  • basics of health care entrepreneurship
  • basics of patient records keeping
  • IS agenda for the counselling office, its inventory

    The student will then counsel the students of MU, who would register for an appointment in dates provided by the student enrolled in the subject.

    The consultations will have to have a following structure:
  • patient's history (personal, family, pharmacological etc.)
  • detailed nutrition history
  • anthropometrical examination, bioimpedance (if relevant)
  • calculation of the food record provided by the client
  • education

    The student is supervised by a teacher for the whole time - either via the patient records in IS (feedback in the Notepad), or in person (more in assessment criteria).

Assessment methods
The credit will be granted after fulfilling the following criteria:
- presence at the introductory seminar (if the student isn't enrolled repeatedly in the subject)
- having at least 4 consultations with at least 2 different clients
- having at least 1 consultation supervised by the teacher
