Cíle předmětu
The aim of the subject is to offer the basic pharmacological knowledge about specific drug groups used in selected diseases and inform students about the important legislation related to drugs and basic prescription rules. Emphasis is given to practical use of the pharmacological theoretical knowledge about the main antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-glaucoma drugs used in ophthalmology, so that the student was able to search independently for relevant information on drugs in reliable sources, including the therapeutic and adverse drug effects and potential drug-drug interactions.
Výstupy z učení
At the end of the course students will know the basic pharmacological principles and factors influencing drug actions. The student will be able to work with the valid sources of information about drugs. The student will have the basic knowledge about drugs influencing the autonomic nervous system. The student will know the main antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-glaucoma drugs used in the field of Ophthalmology.
Osnova
  • 1st lesson: Pharmacology of the autonomic nervous system. Receptors of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems - adrenergic and cholinergic receptors, their agonists and antagonists.
  • 2nd lesson: Pharmacotherapy of glaucoma, mydriatics, cycloplegics, miotics, drugs influencing lacrimation, antimicrobial, anti-allergic agents and anti-inflammatory drugs used in ophthalmology. Local anesthetics used in ophthalmology. Credits.

Students are provided with the pharmacology teacher presentation of the topic according to the curriculum. Oral presentation of the teacher contains pictures and schemes to demonstrate the pharmacological principles and help the understanging of the related topic.
Metody hodnocení
During the studying the student has to prove active knowledge of pharmacology acquired to get the credit. The 100% presence at practicals is required to get the credit. To substitute an absence the student has to write an assay on the relevant topic. In this case, the student will be shortly examined from the topic to prove the active pharmacological knowledge about the relevant drug group.
