Course objectives (in Czech)
After completion of study in this session the student will be able to discern symptom of individual disease and to provide a qualified first aid in acute events. The subject of study is conceived as despening and intensifying of knowledge with begard to the kontent of bachelors study. The content of education tie together with the acquirements in 1st session.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • 1. Lecture and self-study. a) Tumours lung and pleura - benign, malignant . Tuberculosis (TB). b) Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GI) - general principles c) Diseases of the esophagus - inflammation, tumors. d) Diseases of the stomach and duodenum. Gastritis. Peptic ulcer disease. Tumours of the stomach. • The student knows the typical symptomatology of lung tumors • The student knows the basic epidemiological principles pulmonary TB • Student can describe the diseases of the esophagus • The student knows the etiology and symptomatology of the stomach disease. • Students understand the etiology of peptic ulcer disease GD 2. Lecture and self-study. a) Inflammatory bowel disease - Crohn's disease, Proctokolitis. Diverticulosis, Irritable bowel syndrome b) Colorectal cancer. Haemorrhoids. c) Liver and biliary tract disease. gallbladder and biliary tract. Viral hepatitis. Alcoholic liver disease. Cirrhosis of the liver. Cholecystolithiasis. Gallbladder and extrahepatic biliary disease. Tumours of the liver and biliary tract. d) Diseases of the pancreas - acute and chronic pancreatitis. Tumors of the pancreas. • Students are able to describe the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease • The student knows the causes of inflammatory diseases of the liver and biliary tract • Students are able to describe the typical symptomatology GIT tumors 3. Lecture and self-study. a) Glomerular disease. Diabetic nephropathy. b) Renal vascular diseases. Tubulo- interstitial diseases. Urinary tract calculi. Cystitis and urinary tract infection. Kidney transplantation. Tumors of the kidney and urinary tract c) Acute and chronic renal failure. Dialysis treatment. d) Kidney transplantation. Tumors of the kidney and urinary tract • The student knows the difference between glomerular and interstitial renal disease. • The student knows the etiology of nephrolithiasis • The student knows the causes of kidney failure • The student will demonstrate knowledge of the principles of dialysis treatment. • The student will demonstrate knowledge of the symptoms of urinary tract tumors 4. Lecture and self-study. a) Diseases of the endocrine system. Diseases of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. The thyroid gland diseases. Diseases of the adrenal glands b) b) Diabetes mellitus – classification, treatments. Acute complications - diabetic, hypoglycaemic coma c) c) Chronic complications- diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy, diabetic foot. d) d) Metabolic disorders. Dyslipidemia. Obesity. Anorexia and bulimia nervosa. • The student knows the basic manifestations of endocrine disease • Students will be able to define the types of diabetes: insulin dependent, non-insulin dependent. • The student knows the symptoms of acute complications of diabetes • Students are able to describe the manifestations of chronic complications of diabetes • The student knows the principles of good nutrition. Education is composed of collective seminars. The active participation in classes is mandatory.

Type of education is seminar form, attendence is obligatory. The practice is closed at the second term by oral colloquium.
