Prerequisites

Before starting the preparation of the Independent Thesis, students are recommended to complete the optional subject of the autumn semester: Searching for medical literature and work with professional text (VLLL021).
Subject VLSP03X Individual student registers and writes down in the semester, when he / she will defend the work.

Course objectives

The aim of the course is to expand the student's professional horizons beyond preclinical and clinical teaching.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes of the course unit correspond to the chosen form of fulfillment of the course.

Syllabus

Independent sctivity according to the chosen variant and according to the instructions of the supervisor of the thesis.
Every year, institutes and clinics of the Medical Faculty of Masaryk University list the topics of topics that students can apply for via the MU IS. The topics can be viewed in the Schedules of topics in IS MUNI, section Projects: Individual project - General Medicine. Each topic is guaranteed by the thesis supervisor, who is listed in the list. The student can also work on a topic outside the offer published in the schedule. However, he must find a supervisor (academic staff member) who will write the topic in the Schedule.

Teaching methods

Accepted forms of elaboration of individual work:

a) Collection of literature providing existing knowledge on the assigned topic and data processing in the form of a review.
b) Processing of entered data by statistical methods, evaluation of results, formulation of conclusions and presentation in the form of publication or ppt presentation.
c) Own experimental work on a given topic. Evaluation of experiments, elaboration of conclusions and presentation in the form of publication or ppt presentation.
d) Work prepared within the SVOČ and presented at the SVOČ conference.
e) Teaching within the so-called subjects of year-on-year cooperation.

Assessment methods

The course is completed according to the selected variant:

- by submitting the thesis and defending at the relevant workplace, the credit is awarded by the supervisor of the thesis;
- elaboration and presentation within SVOČ; credit is given by the supervisor;
- participation in the teaching of the subject or subjects of year-on-year cooperation; credit is awarded by the Vice-Dean for Development and Studies in General Medicine (Yrs 4 - 6) LF MU, prof. MUDr. Petr Štourač, Ph.D.
