Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows:
to describe all vascular and nerve components of the upper extremity, to define relations of these structures to individual muscles or muscular groups, to know the surface anatomy of the upper extremity and be able to describe arrangement of individual structures in all regions from the superficial to deep layers; to be able to identify individual structures and their relationships in the topographical regions of the lower extremity, to know the surface anatomy and organization of layers of the lower extremity; to identify individual topographical regions of the back, their blood supply and innervation, to demonstrate knowledge of the back muscular systems and surface anatomy of the back.
Syllabus
  • Dissection of the upper limb: deltoid and scapular regions, anterior and posterior brachial regions, anterior and posterior antebrachial regions, palm and dorsum of the hand.
  • Dissection of the lower limb: gluteal region , anterior and posterior femoral regions,anterior and posterior knee regions, anterior and posterior crural regions, sole and dorsum of the foot.
  • Dissection of the back: skin incisions and dissection of the subcutaneous tissue, extrinsic muscles of the back, their blood supply and innervation, intrinsic muscles of the back, blood supply and innervation, vertebral canal and its content.

Assessment methods
A precondition for obtaining the course-unit credit is 100% attendance. The results of examination at the close of the practicals will be included in the results of the practical part of the final examination in Anatomy.
