Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Define the components of the major organ systems (digestive, respiratory, urinary, male and female genital, cardiovascular and lymphatic)
2. Explain the morphology of the organs
3. Create apprehension about position and spatial relationships of particular organs and organ systems
4. Explain anatomy, development and basic functions of the skin and its derivatives
5. Identify all components of the upper and lower extremities
6. Relate structures of the upper limb with respect to adjacent structures
7. Relate structures of the lower limb with respect to adjacent structures
Syllabus
  • 1. Digestive system I. (oral cavity). Arteries of the upper limb I.
  • 2. Digestive system II. (dentition, pharynx, oesophagus). Arteries of the upper limb II.
  • 3. Digestive system III. (stomach, intestine, liver, pancreas, spleen, peritoneum). Veins of the upper limb.
  • 4. Respiratory system I. (upper respiratory tract, larynx). Arteries of the lower limb I.
  • 5. Respiratory system II. (lungs, pleura, mediastinum, thyroid gland, thymus). Arteries of the lower limb II.
  • 6. Urinary system. Spinal nerve.
  • 7. Male genital organs. Brachial plexus; axillary and musculocutaneous nerves.
  • 8. Female genital organs. Perineal muscles. Radial, median and ulnar nerves.
  • 9. Heart I. Lumbar plexus; femoral nerve.
  • 10. Heart II. Arteries I. Sacral plexus; gluteal nerves.
  • 11. Arteries II. Sciatic nerve I.
  • 12. Veins. Sciatic nerve II.
  • 13. Lymphatics. Skin and skin organs.
