Course objectives
Aim is intensifying anatomical knowledges of the head and neck with consideration to their clinical use in dental profession. At the end of the course students should be able to:
- apply the correct anatomical nomenclature during the study of head and neck anatomy
- locate and identify the regions and associated surface landmarks of the head and neck on a patient
- integrate the knowledge of the head and neck anatomy into the clinical practice of patient examination and dental radiology
- discuss the clinical applications of the study of the head and neck anatomy by dental professionals
- discuss normal anatomical variation and how it applies to different structures of the head and neck
Syllabus
  • 1. Functional composition of the skull. Fractures of the skull. Grammars of craniometry and their practical use in dentistry.
  • 2. Anatomy of local anesthesia.
  • 3. Temporomandibular joint.
  • 4. Muscles of mastication.
  • 5. X-ray of the head.
  • 6. Spread of dental infection.
  • 7. Trigeminal neuralgia.
