Prerequisites
The course is intended for students of general medicine, dentistry and students of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Sport Studies. The course is suitable for all students with an increased interest in the neuroanatomy.

Course objectives
The content of the course is practical teaching of the gross anatomy of nervous system and the neuronal pathways.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to: 1. Describe and explain the structure and the function of the peripheral and central nervous systems and neuronal pathways. 2. Relate peripheral and central nervous systems with respect to adjacent structures. 3. Identify distribution and function of the sympathetic and parasympathetic components of the autonomic nervous system.

  • 1. Introduction to the nervous system, Spinal cord – gross anatomy and structure, spinal nerve 2. Cervical plexus, Brachial plexus 3. Lumbar plexus, Sacral plexus 4. Gross anatomy and structure of the brainstem 5. Gross anatomy and structure of the cerebellum 6. Gross anatomy and structure of the diencephalon 7. Gross anatomy and structure of the telencephalon. 8. Ventricles, meninges and blood supply of the CNS 9. Cranial nerves (CN V, VII, IX, X, XI, XII) 10. Visual and auditory systems, cranial nerves III, IV, VI, VIII 11. Neural pathways 12. Regional anatomy of the head and neck 13. Autonomic nervous system (ANS)
