Course objectives
The course "Pharmacy practice" informs students about theory of pharmacy practice - in general and consequently namely for the Czech Republic. The main purpose is to create good knowledge and background for practical training in the pharmacy.

In the frames of this course: the students get to know more closely the structure and functioning of the pharmacy (services offered to public), overview of information resources for pharmacotherapeutic consultations and health promotion, details about handling with medical prescriptions, practical application of law regulations related to pharmacies, Rx drugs, OTC drugs, dispensing of these drugs, rules for preparation of medicinal products in the pharmacy, professional and economic administration - pricing and reimbursement of drugs.
By means of seminars students train selected activities - searching and providing information, handling with medical prescriptions, calculation of pharmacy retail price, students attend excursion to the local pharmaceutical distributor company.

Learning outcomes
Completing the course, the student will be able to: describe the principles of individual activities of pharmacy practice (dispensing, administrative, control activities);
describe the principles of price setting of medicinal products, medical devices and apply these principles in practice;
search for information on medicinal products and medical devices in professional databases;
to design basic methods of communication in pharmacy practice;
Syllabus
  • The course "Pharmacy practice" informs students about theory of pharmacy practice - in general and consequently namely for the Czech Rebublic. The main purpose is to create good knowledge and background for practical training in the pharmacy.

Conditions:
1. Presence in seminars: 100 %, Absence: max. 2 (declared with medical record), substitution compulsory
2. Pre-credit tests and tasks: min. 70 %
3. Conditions must be met at least 1 week before the end of the examination period in the autumn semester.
