Course objectives
Sequencing of human genome significantly extended scale for development
of new drugs. A structure-genomics has been created to help to determine
function of individual genes by high-throughput protein crystallography.
Experimentally determined structures of proteins and nucleic acids and
their complexes with inhibitors, substrates and drugs become the basis
for rational drug design. Big pharmaceutic corporations formed large and
expensive laboratories of structure biology. For this reason it is
necessary to introduce these progressive methods into pedagogic curriculum.
