Prerequisites
Basic orientation in chronology and archaeological heritage of Central Europe, basics of computer work, the basics of geographic information systems.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the historical development, main methods and benefits of remote archaeological sensing. The basics of data computer processing, especially in the field of airborne laser scanning, are also part of the course.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- identify and interpret archaeological sites and features in remote sensing data
- process and visualize airborne laser scanning data
- work independently with the main sources of remote sensing data

  • - significance of remote sensing in the framework of non-destructive archaeology
  • - aerial archaeology, history, methods and contribution to the knowledge and protection of archaeological heritage
  • - the use of vertical aerial photography in archaeology
  • - satellite data, major satellite systems
  • - airborne laser scanning and landscape surveying
  • - unmanned aerial vehicles and archaeology

Theoretical lectures, practical examples of data processing, examples of good practice.
Assessment methods
