Syllabus
  • The course is an introduction to the use and preparation of computer corpora. Computer corpora are collections of texts put together in a particular way, for instance for the purpose of a language study. Students will be acquainted with some of the existing large electronic corpora and will take part in the preparation of a small parallel translation corpus, consisting of the text of one English novel and its Czech translation.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Seminar; Assessment: Students are expected to write a short paper (1-2 pages) based on the analysis of the corpus.
