Course objectives (in Czech)
The course will consider the work and life of Virginia Woolf, focusing on the novels 'The Voyage Out', 'Jacob's Room', 'Mrs Dalloway', 'To the Lighthouse', 'Orlando, and 'The Waves' as well as 'A Room of One's Own.Film adaptations of 'Mrs Dalloway', 'To The Lighthouse' and "Orlando' may also be included and discussed in the course in addition to a small related discussion of the treatment of woman as object in the films of Alfred Hitchcock.

Assessment will be by essay (5-8 pages) (40%), 2 'Elf' contributions of 500-800 words(30%), and oral assessment (30%). Those taking the course for credit only need to meet one of the written requirements .
