Students should be prepared to discuss both structural and thematic aspects of each story. The instructor will draw on her experience as fiction editor of "The Kenyon Review" -- one of the older and better-known literary magazines in the United States -- to assemble a reading list that represents the most recent trends emerging in American short fiction. Students can expect to write short critiques of the works being discussed.
