Course objectives
The course will cover some of the areas of English that are usually strongly influenced by social stereotypes, values and/or changing attitudes of its users. The topics will include: taboo in language, euphemism, slang, jargon, doublespeak, political correctness, etc. Each area will be exemplified by using sample texts to be analysed by the student.
