- Course objectives
- A cycle of Czech lectures on the development of the English theatre and drama in the Elizabethan Age, culminating in the work William Shakespeare and the practice and art of the King's Men. Individual lectures focus on major authors and their plays, on the companies and the development of the genres and theatre styles.
- Syllabus
- Účelem předmětu je uvést studenty do problematiky studia alžbětinského divadla v pokud možno největší šíři a do kontextu divadelní kultury té doby. Poznání kontextu je nutné ke kritickému ocenění a docenění divadelních i nedivadelních kvalit díla Williama Shakespeara, který z děl svých předchůdců, současníků a spoluautorů vycházel a jejich postupy přetvářel. Rozbor her se bude do značné míry zabývat technickými hledisky tvorby alžbětinského dramatu, tedy jedná se o studium prostředků, jakými drama komunikuje (divadelní a dramatická semiotika), a také tím, jak se liší užívání těchto prostředků u různých autorů. Tento přístup je zaměřen ryze prakticky; podrobně poznat řemeslnou dovednost profesionálních dramatiků té doby a její vztah ke sděleni hry.
