Course objectives
This is a bi-weekly course. The students will reflect on, share and discuss key issues from their teaching practice experience with students from different teaching practice groups. Students will also consolidate and extend their knowledge in the areas of planning, language analysis and other professional competencies, based on the needs of the students arising from teaching practice.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student will be able to: 1. Reflect on their practice and identify key areas for improvement in their planning and teaching. 2. Have a more in-depth understanding of the practical application of language teaching methodology for teaching systems and skills in the upper secondary classroom. 3. Expand their repertoire of methods and tasks for teaching the language systems and skills. 4. Give and receive constructive feedback.

  • 1. Discussion of key issues arising from Teaching Practice 1 with peers. 2. Tandem teaching. 3. Planning and selecting resources for specific teaching contexts. 4. Selected techniques in teaching the language systems and the four skills 5. Practical considerations and selected techniques in classroom management. 6. Selected aspects of professional development.

Teaching methods
Discussion, pair and group work, practical demonstrations, reading.
Assessment methods
In order to get the credits for this course, students must attend all of the classes. They must submit a certain number of reflective writing pieces on their teaching during their Teaching practice 1, detailing their strengths and weaknesses in the classroom. They will read the reflective notes of their colleagues and discuss them in the class. At the beginning of the semester, students will submit their plan for development. They will evaluate the plan at the end of the semester and propose an action plan in which they address the areas of weakness that they have identified.
