Course objectives
Analysis and practice of basic morphological and syntactic phenomena of the normative Latin grammar necessary for understanding self-contained Latin texts. At the end of the course students will: be able to demonstrate the knowledge of primary latin grammatic end have an understanding of the unknow texts.
Syllabus
  • Morphology: declensions of nouns; verbs: indicative of the present, imperfect and future tenses in active and passive voices; present infinitive; present participle; adjectives; basic forms of personal and possessive pronouns; adverbs; numerals. Syntax: constructions with two accusatives or nominative; a subject accusative + infinitive; time clauses (CUM HISTORICUM); independent uses of the subjunctive mood; UT clauses.
